Health, Safety, Quality and the Environment

Our Safety Culture stems from regular Safety Forums, HSQE Newsletters, and readily available and highly experienced HSQE team.  We implement a program of Planned General Inspections and Directors’ Safety Observation visits which helps to build and maintain a positive safety culture.

Our Behavioural Safety programme underpins this, along with feedback from workforce-related surveys.

Safety is at the forefront of everything we do. Providing a working environment which is safe and healthy for all employees and those affected by our activities is the main priority for Lough Build.

Policy, best practice and compliance

We maintain high HSQE standards through robust procedures and regular monitoring across all our operations. Our Health & Safety Policy is clearly communicated to everyone on the team, supported by practical best-practice guidance and ongoing briefings. We also stay engaged with industry-led health and safety initiatives to keep our approach current and continually improve how we plan and deliver work safely.

At Lough Build, we care about the well-being of our employees. We believe that when our team is healthy, both physically and mentally, they are happier and more productive.

Our commitment to staff development is demonstrated through our approach to competence management, including CSCS (or equivalent) cards held by our employees and workforce to evidence relevant training, qualifications and experience for the tasks they undertake. This is supported by structured site inductions, regular toolbox talks, and role-specific refresher training, with additional competency certification used where required (for example plant, lifting operations and specialist trades).

We plan and deliver work using suitable risk assessments and method statements, briefed to the team and backed by appropriate supervision. We promote a positive reporting culture for near-misses and unsafe conditions, and we routinely monitor standards through site inspections and corrective actions—helping protect our workforce, clients, neighbours and anyone affected by our works, in line with UK health and safety duties.
